Carrier Account Manager - India

Mobile-XL™ provides emerging markets of India, Africa, Latin America and the Middle-East with affordable access to communication and relevant information with the ultimate goal of putting these areas on par with parts of the world that have readily available access to PCs, the internet and WAP. The XLBrowser™, Mobile-XL’s™ flagship product, is the crucial link to information and communication anyplace in the world where internet, WAP and GPRS services are slow, limited, and unreliable. It provides customers a one-stop solution for access to a wide variety of information, entertainment and business related services, through established relationships with content providers such as Facebook, AFP, Weatherbug, XE, among many others.

Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time carrier account manager with the commitment, desire, and work ethic necessary to manage our carrier/operator relations in India. Our Account Executives are assisted by our product, content and engineering teams in creation of carrier VAS solutions and will be expected to work closely with additional local and regional resources. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to utilize our internal systems to maintain accurate customer records, perform daily account management activities, and market our products and services in the assigned area.


  • Maintain strong direct relationships with carrier/operator partners in India

  • Drive new partnerships, selling our VAS products to new and existing carrier partners, and ensuring prompt and proper resolution of issues raised by partners

  • Represent MXL Telecom at industry events (describe benefits to users, content providers, and advertisers)

  • Play central role in helping team build circle-wise usage metrics and management "business infrastructure" tools

  • Prospect for and qualify new account opportunities

  • Maintain a high level of activity including needs assessments, application development, proposal presentation, negotiation, and post-contract services

  • Manage assigned accounts on an on-going basis

  • Deliver bi-monthly reports as outlined by the Country Manager


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a strong academic record, with at least 4 years of experience. MBA a plus

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of outside account management experience is required

  • Familiarity with the telecom and MVAS landscape in India, with at least some prior experience working with large telecom operator(s) in India

  • At least 1 year experience working in the Mobile Value-Added Services (MVAS) space

  • Excellent partner communication skills and presentation abilities, including comfort in front of a large audience

  • Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects and competing priorities

  • Ability to effectively think strategically and influence cross-functional teams, such as Technical Service, Product Development, and Engineering teams to resolve problems and to provide input into new features

  • Demonstrated success in telecommunications sales to carriers

  • Experience in consultative sales techniques, and account planning including account profiling, account positioning strategy, customer needs analysis, sales opportunity development, service improvement planning, and long range account management strategies
